The Renault Master maintenance plan varies across Master II (1998-2011) and Master III (2010-2024) vans and their many diesel engine options, so it is important to select your exact model year range and engine for the correct schedule. Use the selectors on this page to see the service items and intervals that apply to your specific Renault Master.

Diesel Renault Master servicing (dCi, DTi and Turbo D)

Most Renault Master models in this range are diesel, covering common dCi engines as well as older DTi and Turbo D units, and the exact service schedule can differ widely by engine and model year. Oil and filter changes are central to longevity on hard working vans, but the interval can vary significantly by engine and usage, so always follow the values shown for your selection. On later dCi variants with emissions aftertreatment, make sure the correct low ash oil specification is used where required and keep an eye on DPF related service items if they appear for your engine. It is also wise to include regular checks of coolant condition, auxiliary drive belt condition, air and fuel filtration, and brake and clutch fluid condition, as these can be affected by heavy loads and frequent stop start driving.

Common service operations for Renault

The operations listed below reflect typical Renault Master service requirements, but the exact items and cadence depend on the generation, engine family and duty cycle. Once you choose your Master variant, check the table for the correct distance and time based intervals.

Operation Typical interval Notes
Oil and filter changeSee selector aboveVaries by engine and recommended oil grade
Air filter30,000 to 60,000 kmMore often in urban or dusty driving
Cabin filter15,000 to 30,000 km or 1 yearAffects air conditioning and air quality
Brake fluid2 years (all models)Regardless of mileage
CoolantPer manufacturer (typically 5 years or 100,000 km)Check level and condition (colour, deposits) at every service
Front brake padsDepending on use (typically 30,000 to 60,000 km)Wear depends on driving style and load carried

Renault electronic diagnostics

If a warning light appears or the engine is not running as it should, an OBD scan can quickly narrow down the system at fault before you start swapping parts. Start with stored and pending codes, then look at live data to confirm whether the issue is consistent under load or at idle. Many faults will fall into broad categories such as emissions and aftertreatment (including DPF), fuel and air metering, boost control, or sensor and electrical circuit problems. For code lookups and guidance, see Renault Master OBD fault codes.
