Opel Vectra petrol maintenance considerations
Vectra petrol engines range from smaller 16V units through turbocharged performance variants, so servicing needs can differ noticeably between, for example, Z16XE/Z18XER types and Z20NET/Z28NET turbo engines. Keep on top of oil and filter changes, as frequent short trips and higher under-bonnet temperatures can accelerate oil degradation and contribute to sludge on poorly maintained cars. On turbo petrol models, clean oil and correct spec are especially important for turbo longevity, and it is worth checking for boost-related air leaks if drivability changes. Ignition components (spark plugs and coils/leads where fitted) are also common service-sensitive items, as misfires can trigger the engine management light and can damage the catalytic converter if ignored.
