Diesel Volkswagen LT maintenance (D, TD and TDI engines)
Most Volkswagen LT variants are diesel, including 2.4D/2.4TD units and later 2.5 TDI and 2.8 TDI engines, and they reward regular oil and filter changes to protect turbo and internal wear. Pay close attention to air and fuel filtration and check for intake and boost leaks, as these can affect starting, smoke and power. Timing belt servicing is especially critical on belt-driven diesels: always follow the interval shown for your exact engine code and include any associated tensioners and idlers where specified. Cooling system condition also matters on hard-working vans, so keep coolant at the correct level and watch for leaks, overheating or slow warm-up symptoms.
