Petrol BMW 1-Series maintenance
Petrol BMW 1-Series models cover a wide spread of engines, so service needs can differ between families like B38, B48, B58 and earlier N-series units such as N13, N20, N52, N54 and N55. Keep on top of engine oil and filter changes, and treat any rough idle, hesitation or increased fuel use as a prompt to check ignition and air intake basics (for example spark plugs and the air filter) at the correct interval for your engine. If your car is turbocharged, consistent oil quality and correct servicing help protect the turbo and reduce the chance of oil leaks or boost-related faults. Coolant condition and level checks are also worth doing between services, especially on older cars where ageing hoses and seals can start to weep.
